DORIS DORSEY GORDON

Doris Dorsey Gordon entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the age of 71. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. Doris was a graduate of Joseph S Clark Senior High School, where she excelled in academics especially Math and English, and she attended Dillard University in New Orleans, LA. Doris worked at the historic Circle Food Store before beginning her career at Bell South (currently AT&T), where she won numerous Top Sales Representative awards. As an active Union Representative, she advocated ardently for equal pay and workers’ rights until her retirement after over 25 years of dedicated service. “Lady Di”, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, “or Mama D” to her grandchildren was one of few who still cherished the lost art of writing and regularly hand wrote letters to her children and grandchildren. Loving mother of Valencia Lewis, Erroll Lewis Jr, and Erin Lewis. Grandmother of Morgan Butler, Victoria Butler, Errollyaiona Lewis, Akareya Lewis and Demetrice Shepard. Daughter of the late Morris Dorsey and Fannie Lewis. Sister of Gerri Dorsey, Pearlie (Wilfred) Aubert, Valencia Dorsey-Johnson, Johnnie (Dean)Dorsey, Sr., Tommy Dorsey, Jimmie Dorsey, Aubry (Renee Sterling) Dorsey, and the late Morris Dorsey, Jr. Aunt of the late Keanna Aubert and the late Johnnie Dorsey, Jr.  She also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews-as well as great friends.
