Donald “Duck” Joseph Duckett, age 86, transitioned peacefully into eternal rest at Veterans Administration Hospital on Sunday, September 17, 2023. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of Marreo, LA. Donald was a veteran of the United States Airforce. He was a retired welder of Avondale Shipyard, and a former employee of Shell Oil Refinery and Celotex Corporation. As a member of the renowned gospel group the Golden Tones he traveled throughout the New Orleans metropolitan area singing songs of Zion. Beloved father Darren Duckett (companion Carolyn Chess), Judy Duckett (Marlon) Perkins, LaShon Henry, and the late Byron Duckett, Sr. Loving grandfather of Daniel Duckett, Byron Duckett, Jr., and Seven McCoy. Great grandfather of Xavier Duckett and Jacob Duckett. Son of the late Horace Duckett, Sr. and Clarsey Parks Duckett. Devoted brother of Jannie Rosetta Duckett Washington, Dorothy Mae Duckett Jones, LouAudrey Duckett Freeman, Horace Duckett, Jr., and the late Raymond Duckett, Gustavia Duckett Pinkins, and Augustine Duckett McCallon. Brother-in-law of Ethel Lee Duckett and the late Robert Washington, Timothy Jones, Geoge Freeman, Lawrence Pinkins, and Henry McCallon. Former husband of the late Eloise Nelson Duckett. Also cherishing his memories are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Progressive Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Progressive Church, 437 Cohen Street Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
