DAVID RANDALL MCGOWAN

David R. McGowan departed this life at his daughter’s residence on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at the age of 77. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA. David served his country in the United States Army for 33 years as a Master Sergeant. He was a retired letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, and former employee of the New Orleans Police Dept. and Gretna Police Dept. Devoted husband of the late Kathleen McGowan. Devoted friend of Ruth Durell. Beloved father of Dana (Douglas) Davis of Marrero, LA and Raquel McGowan of Houston, TX. Stepfather of Anthony Dapremont, James and Mary Debose of New Orleans, LA. Grandfather of the late Donte Hall. Son of the late Sonny R. McGowan and Beaulah O.C. McGowan. Brother of the late Albert Miller, Bruce McGowan, and Alice Beasley, also survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 godchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Evening Star Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; employees of New Orleans Police Dept., Gretna Police Dept, United States Postal Service; members of Men’s and Ladies Lion Club; staff of Interim Hospice and L. B. Landry Class of 1964 are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Evening Star Baptist Church, 817 Grefer St. Harvey, LA on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 10:00a.m.  Pastor Keith Paul Stewman, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Evening Star Baptist Church Cemetery-Harvey, LA.
