CHASSIDY TROYLYNN ROUSSELL

Chassidy Roussell entered peacefully into eternal rest on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the age of 46. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Cypress, TX. Chassidy was a proud 1996 graduate of L. W. Higgins High School and continued her studies at Grambling State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with the class of 2000. While at Grambling, she pledged Delta Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was also a member of Distinguished Black Women and participated in various campus activities. Chassidy relocated to Houston, TX in 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, where she became gainfully employed with the Harris County Forensic Lab. She later pursued a career in education until her retirement. Loving wife of Kevin Roussell. Devoted mother of Ashton Porter, Chloe Porter, and Amijah Bernard. Daughter of the late Linda Wells-Jazmin and Kenneth Taylor, Sr. Granddaughter of the late Ruby Wells. Bonus daughter of Wynn Jones, Sr. and Cheryll Taylor. Beloved sister of Wynn Jones and Kenneth Taylor, Jr. Niece of Sylvia Jones, Oreann Wright, Kevin (Latrice) Wells, Carl Wells, and the late Gwendolyn “Tweet” Wells. Goddaughter of Vincent and Gloria Jackson. Daughter-in-law of Kevin Roussell, Sr. and Betty Perry. Sister-in-law of Kedric (Tequella) Roussell and Lakeisha (Dominique) Roussell. Chassidy is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and close friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mount Calvary International Worship Center and all neighboring churches; Sorors of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Mount Calvary International Worship Center, 1600 Westwood Drive, Marrero, LA on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, LA.
