Charlie Mae Marshall entered peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, June 6, 2022, at the age of 78. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gulfport, LA. Charlie was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She was a retired employee of Auxiliary Enterprise LSU “C” Store, and a former employee of the Dietary Department at Ochsner Main Campus. Charlie was a liaison of Dryades YMCA/NOLA for the Community Action Group. She was a member of First House of Prayer Baptist Church Gospel Chorus, where she was given the name “Songbird”. Caring and devoted companion of William Cunningham. Beloved daughter of the late Edward Rile and Isabella Leola Gardner. Loving sister of Dave Gardner, Gladys (William, Sr.) Weathersby, Joyce Johnson, Frankie (Herbert) London, and the late Ethel (Clarence) Herring, and Minnie Griffin. Godmother of Shellond L. Harvey and Ronald “Bobbie” Smith; also cherishing her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Shiloh Baptist Church of Gretna, First House of Prayer Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Shiloh Baptist Church of Gretna, 723 Magellan Street Gretna, LA on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Larry Davis, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
