BOBBIE LEE BLACK

Bobbie Black transitioned to her heavenly home at West Jefferson Medical Center on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the age of 76. She was a native of Ferriday, LA and a longtime resident of Marrero, LA. She was a retired welder of Avondale Shipyard. Bobbie was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church, where she was president of the usher board #2 and the junior ushers. She was also a member of the senior and mass choirs. She will be remembered for her loving, caring and nurturing spirit. Beloved wife of Larry Jones Gibson, Loving mother of Linda Black, Lisa Black (Mike), Crystal (Courtney) Faulkner, Bobbie “Ann” Black, Felicia Gilbert, Krissy Carter (Michael), and the late Jonathan Black. Bonus mother of Shantae Jones, Sharon, LaMonica, and Tresa Gibson.  Devoted grandmother of Kiry, Joshua, Keith, Kevin, Kai, Kai’ya, Alisha, Christopher, and Kristen Black, Chrishawn (Peter) Nelson, Colby and Brenden Faulkner, Daniel Carter, A’lasia White, India and Robert Gilbert, Jr. Daughter of the late Fred Lewis and Jannie Carter. Sister of Jannie (Donovan) Allen, Henry (Sholana) Johnson, Shelly Wayne-Lewis, and the late Ruthie-Mae, Emma, Leah, David and Fred, Jr.  Godmother of Curtis August; also survived 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at New Zion Baptist Church, 1131 Garden Road Marrero, LA on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
