BEVERLY ANN THOMPSON-THOMPSON

Beverly Ann Thompson-Thompson answered the Master’s call on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the age of 84. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a lifelong resident of Marrero, LA. She was a graduate of Xavier Preparatory High School and continued to pursue her bachelor’s degree at Xavier University of Louisiana and felt the need to further her degree, receiving her masters from Tulane University. During her 49 years as an educator with the Jefferson Parish Public School System, Beverly taught and stressed the importance of a strong educational foundation. After retirement, she continued her commitment of nurturing and educating young minds for an additional 20 years at what was then Faith Academy, as affiliated through St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church. Beverly was a faithful member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church for over 75 years, where she served as the first musician and choir director, as well as the first historian documenting the church’s history. Beloved wife of 45 years to the late Eugene Thompson, Jr. Devoted mother of Renata Mikell (Pastor Edward III) Joseph and Dylan Tremell (Candita) Thompson. Loving grandmother of Kayla, Darius, and Deston Joseph, Cameryn and Donovan Thompson. Daughter of her late Pastor Mansfield Thompson and Cecelia Williams-Thompson. Sister of the late Sylvia Jones of Los Angeles, CA and Thelma Thompson-Thibodeaux. Godmother of Denise Bellock, Bianca Bellock of Maryland, Danna Pharr, and Jamal Tillman. Sister-in-law of Brenda (Edward) Wilson, Rose T. Jones of California, and the late Gerald and Norman Thompson. Also cherishing her memories are her devoted colleague and best friend Yvonne J. Osborne, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 6223 6th Avenue, Marrero, LA on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor Edward Joseph III, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
