BARBARA OVIDE DOPTMORE

Barbara Ovide Doptmore passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 65. She was a native of Bridge City, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA.  Barbara was educated in the Jefferson Parish Public School System and later acquired certification as a CNA. She was employed at Magnolia School where she worked with individuals with developmental disabilities. Barbara was a member of the Jefferson Council on Aging and was briefly employed with the Community Service Program. Beloved wife of the late Louis Doptmore, Jr.  Loving mother of Andrew Garabold. Daughter of the late Ralph and Elvira Ovide. Granddaughter of the late Arthur and Helen Williams, Anthony Ovide and Bessie Thomas. Devoted sister of Ann (Alfred) Wallace, Patricia (Joseph) Veal, and Andre (Christine) Ovide. Niece of Mary White, Arthur Williams, and the late Lorraine Shelby. Devoted aunt of Ayanna Eugene and LaJuana Rivers. Former wife of Anthony Garabold. Barbara is also survived by her godchildren Ymeika Kennedy, Shyrone Carey, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Third Emanuel Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Third Emanuel Baptist Church, 187 Third Emanuel Street Bridge City, LA on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 10:00a.m. Pastor J. C. Dyson, Sr., officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the church.
