BARBARA BROWN CAVALIER

Barbara Brown Cavalier entered peacefully into eternal rest at Wynhoven Health Care Center on Friday, February 16, 2024, at the age of 77. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Barbara was a faithful member of Second Zion Baptist Church, where she was a Deaconess, a member of the Sunday School and Prayer Band, before her health began to decline. As a God fearing woman and Good Samaritan, Barbara would readily serve in any capacity needed.  Beloved wife of 28 years to the late Andrew Cavalier. Devoted mother of Brian (Anna) Firstley and Troy Firstley. Stepmother of Fannie M. Handy Jefferson. Daughter of the late Harry and Annie Mae Gaines. Loving sister of Harry (Eunice) Gaines, Sterling (Laverne) Gaines, Guy (Marie) Patterson, Ricky (Adaline) Patterson, Contrella Norman, Malinda Hills, Sylvia Gaines, Denise Bellock, Tammy (Merwin) Leblanc, and the late Stanley Gaines, Phylis G. Campbell, and Larry J. Gaines. Sister-in-law of Willie Mae Brown, Rosetta Roth, Lela Johnson, Joel Cavalier, Annette Mackie-Keith, Delores Charles, Doris C. Richardson, Janet C. Smith, and Jeffery Cavalier. Loyal friend of Delores Jones, Albertine Celestine, and Ann Cobbs; also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Second Zion Baptist Church, 6520 Second Zion Avenue, Marrero, LA on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Pastor James Nelson Brown, officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, LA.
