Anthony “Tony” Andrew Charles entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 71. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Gretna, LA. Anthony was a graduate of Southern School for the Deaf in Baton Rouge, LA Class of 1975. “Tony”, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk technician for 38 years. Devoted father of Toni Annette Charles, and Tameacia Pounds. Adopted father of Nicole Pounds. Grandfather of ShaMeiah Kirton, ShaLayah Kirton, Sarai Kirton, and Niama Pounds. Son of the late Hammond Charles, Sr. and Lizzie Mae Henry Charles. Brother of Trudy Kent, Roxanne Charles, Precious Charles, Rev. Liroy Charles, Hammond Charles, Jr., Markey Charles, Pastor Keith Charles, Brian Charles, and the late Cubie “Doll” Charles, Neal Charles, and Muchell Charles. Uncle of the late LaShawn Marie Charles. Nephew of Ernestine Henry Johnson, and John “Mickey” Henry. Brother in law of Loretta Charles, Scarlette Charles, Janice Charles, Della Charles, Brenda Charles, Sheryl Charles, Lisa Charles and Campanella Kent, Sr. Special friend of Karen Faye Smith, Monica Pounds, Jo McGuire, and Ruby Lee More, also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Asbury United Methodist Church, and neighboring churches; members of American Postal Workers Union are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at Asbury United Methodist Church 2725 Ernest St. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the church.
