Amos McGowan entered peacefully into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center at the age of 57. He was a native of Crystal Springs, MS and a resident of Marrero, LA. Amos was a 1982 graduate of John Ehret High School, where he was a member of the football team. After high school Amos enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and ranked as Sergeant after eight years of service. He was employed as a Night Supervisor with GardaWorld Security. Beloved son of Mary McGowan and the late Luther Karey “Jack” McGowan. Loving brother of Mark Anthony (Lacern) McGowan, Luther Karey (Deidra) McGowan, Jr., Sylvia (Alexander) Harley, Kimberly (Anthony) Nash, Marcy (Todd, Sr.) Guillory, and the late Marchell Alejandro Ray McGowan. Amos is also survived by his dear friend Mary Bailey Phillips, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 230 MONROE STREET GRETNA, LA on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Edward Joseph, III of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
