ALEXANDER DAVIS, JR

January 26, 1930 — August 20, 2021

Alexander “Alex” Davis, Jr. was called home on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the age of 91. He was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA.  Alexander was a graduate of McDonogh 35 High School and when on to serve his country in the United States Army in the Korean conflict with his duty in Anchorage, Alaska from 1951 to 1953. After returning Mr. Davis attended Straight Business School in New Orleans. He retired from the United States Department of Labor after 30 years of dedicated service as a Claims Adjuster.  Alexander who was affectionately known by family and close associates, as “Killroy” because he was always impeccably dressed, or “Dressed to Kill. Alex loved Jazz music, played guitar, piano, and loved to sing. He was a member Berean Presbyterian Church, where he sang with the male chorus and was an ordained Elder.  Beloved husband of 67 years to Josephine Davis. Devoted father of Kenneth (Joyce) Davis, Kevin Davis, Kurt (Angela) Davis, Karl Davis, and the late Alexander Keith Davis. Grandfather of Christopher (Dejean) Brown, Keisha Davis (Michael) Cornin, Keith Alexander, Kenneth (Isabel), Kelsey, and Kyle Davis, and Brooklyn Keller. Son of the late Alexander Sr. and Ceola Davis. Grandson of the late Pirl Johnson and Beulah Davis. Brother of the late Alphonse Davis. Alexander is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many dear friends and associates. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Berean Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and all neighboring churches; faculty, staff, students, and alumni of St. Augustine High School are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 2805 General Taylor 2805 General Taylor Ave. New Orleans, LA on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 11:00a.m. Pastor Moses Gordon II, eulogist; Rev. Moses Gordon III, officiant.  Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service at the above-named church.
