Rosalie Dorsey Common entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 16, 2012. Wife of the late Charles Common, Sr. Mother of James (Diane) Tillman, Karen (Isaac , Jr.) Knightshead, Lisa (Benjamin) McMillian and the late Lillian Tillman Jessie and Charles Common, Jr. Stepmother of Gloria Common Carter. Grandmother of the late Valencia Common. Daughter of the late Elnora Black and Charles Dorsey, Sr. Sister of the late Charles Dorsey, Jr. and Delores Gaspar. Stepsister of Margaret Skinner. Mother in law of Joseph Jessie, Sr. Former mother in law of Orinetta Gaines Common. Sister in law of Annie Bell Dorsey. Devoted friend and surrogate family member Mary Herbert, also survived by 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age: 84 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Gretna, La. for most of her adult life and now a resident in Harvey, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 701 Huey P. Long Ave. Gretna, La. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Noily Paul officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, La.
