Iola Wooden departed this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at her residence. Beloved wife of the late Irvin J. Wooden, Sr. Loving mother of Elder Irvin (Patricia) J. Wooden, Jr., Ellis (Marla) Wooden, Sr., Allen (Darria) Wooden, Kerry Wooden, Jean W. (Thomas) Scrubbs, Lynette W. (Larry) Washington, Sharon W. (Pastor Carl) Christian, and the late Sandra W. Howard, Henry Wooden and Wayne Wooden. Devoted daughter of the late William (Bill) Jones and Leona Vennett. Sister of Harry Vennett, Jr. and the late Harold Johnson. Mother in law of James Howard. Sister-in-law of JoAnn Vennett and Rosemary Johnson. Foster mother of Gail W. Langford, Pamela Franklin, Nathaniel Franklin and Claudette Scrubbs. Godmother of Larry Birden, Terrence Washington and Glenn Davis; also survived by 26 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 87 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Avondale, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second St. John Baptist Church, Worldwide Apostolic Church of God, Christian Outreach Ministry of Melissa, Tx., Hosanna Fellowship of Gretna and neighboring churches; employees of West Jefferson Stroke Unit, Heart of Hospice, Avondale Shipyard, Tuboscope of Houma, La., and Turner Industries are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second St. John Baptist Church, 242 Avondale Garden Rd. Avondale, La. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Charlie R. Davis-officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
