Lee Ethel Burton

Lee Ethel Thompson Burton departed this life on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Canon Hospice at the age of 93 surrounded by family and friends. Daughter of the late Ceasar and Victoria Thompson. The beloved wife of the late Ivory W. Burton. Loving mother of Brella B. Sims (Los Angeles, CA), Gail B. Newell, the late Thelma B. Hitchens and Barbara Burton. Also a devoted goddaughter, Glorious (Glo) Hall. Also survived by two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, seven grandchildren, two devoted granddaughters: Tam'miko Newell and Ursula Newell-Lewis, nine great-grand-children, four great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Olive Branch Baptist Church and neighboring churches; employees of the Office of Veterans Affairs and Canon Hospice are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 1134 Branch-Joseph Ave. (formerly Odeon Ave.), Algiers, LA on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Reginald Nicholas, Sr., officiating.
