Freddie Merriday, Sr. departed this life on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at his residence. Beloved husband of the late Marguerite Golden Merriday. Loving father of Marguerite Louise Saul of Virginia and Freddie Merriday, Jr. Father in law of Rose Ferdinand Merriday. Grandfather of James Saul of Virginia and Melantha (Terrance) Bell. Great grandfather of Makayla Rose Borne. Son of the late Louise Kennedy Merriday and Phil Merriday. Brother of Daisey M. Jackson and the late Ophelia M. Wells, Wilfred Meredith, Sr. and Henry Meredith, Sr. Brother-in-law of Florina Meredith; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Mr. Merriday was a retired employee of Celotex Corp. and Jefferson Parish School System Transportation Department. Age: 83 years a native and lifelong resident of Westwego, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of True Vine B. C. of Westwego, La., priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, The City of Westwego Elected Officials, Westwego Historic Society; employees of Divers Supplies, Inc., UPS of Harvey and Helen Cox High School are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, La. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Terry Lynn Robinson, Sr.-officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named parlor. Interment: Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery- Westwego, La. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, La.
