Florence Thompson Porche, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 5, 2011. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Porche. Daughter of the late John and Leona Jackson Thompson. Loving mother of Raymond (Clara) of Tampa, Fl., Roosevelt ( Estelle), Alton, Wilfred, Gregory (Castine), and Melvin Porche, Carmel Black, Ruby Porche of Schertz, Tx., Thelma (Roosevelt) Jones, Patricia Porche, and the late Sylvia Turner, Antoine Porche and Elenora Mason. Caring grandmother and mother of Benjamin Roy Degree, Jr. Sister of Roosevelt Thompson, the Thomas family of Mobile, Al., and the late Elenora Jacobs. Also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbors other relatives and friends. Age: 86 years a native of Houma, La. and a resident of Algiers, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of St. Stephens Baptist Church, Fischer Community Church, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, Second Good Hope Baptist Church, priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; employees of USPS, Wynhoven Health Care Center, Multiplan, Haliburton, MFR Inc., Walmart and Mary Joseph Residence are invited to attend the funeral service at First Free Mission Baptist Church, 426 Lamarque St., New Orleans, La. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Norman Francis-officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m.until service time at the above named church.
