Ethel Mae Johnson Nelson, a homemaker, entered eternal rest on Friday, July 1, 2011 at West Jefferson Medical Center. Wife of the late Gus Nelson. Daughter of the late Elizabeth Buckingham and Wilson Johnson. Beloved mother of Harold Nelson, Gloria Barbara Keller, Eloise Duckett, Marian Nelson, Deanna Simon and the late Gus Nelson, Jr., Yvonne Bottley and Herman Nelson. Grandmother of Alius, Sr., Alius, Jr., Standford, Margaret, and Vernell Keller, Karen Cotton, Darren Duckett, Judy Perkins, Tyrone Bottley, Damon and Jason Nelson, Anthony White, Candice Nelson, Ashley, and Damon Nicholas, Erica Irvin and Troy Simon. Sister of the late Octavia Jackson, Elvera Jacob, Emelda J. Hammond, Earl Davis, Wilson Johnson, Raynard Manuel, Sr. and Joseph Lemieux. Mother-in-law of Eliot Keller, Betty Nelson and Roy Simon. Sister-in-law of Mary Manuel and the late Ernest Jackson, Johnny Jacob, Sylvester Green, Jr., Willie Mae Lemieux and Leecy Breaux. Devoted friend of Ethel Mae Davis and Augustine Forbes; also survived by 26 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 92 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Marrero, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of New Zion Baptist Church, Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, Fifth African Baptist Church St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; employees of West Jefferson Medical Center, Tulane Hospital, New Orleans Job Corps Center, Employment Assistance Services and Lowes are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Zion Baptist Church, 1131 Garden Road, Marrero, La. on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Austin Dennis-officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, La. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, La.
