Ida DeJean Johnson, a retired substitute teacher with the Jefferson Parish School System, accepted her wings and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 28, 2011. Cherished wife of 46 years to Walter Johnson. Loving mother of Kelli Nicole Wheeler. Proud grandmother of Brittney, Melanie, James, Reginald, Jr., Nicole, Isaiah, Jared and Luke. Daughter of the late Willie and Ernestine Osborne DeJean . Sister of June Styles. Aunt of Linda and Eric Neal. Sister-in-law of Williana Haydel, Orelia Vance, Dorothy (Richard) Hawkins, Linda Alexander, Leona (Herman) Howard and Carlos Lovely. Godmother of Brian Bentley, Barrett Morton and Kenya Campbell. Also survived by Viney Williams who was a loving and devoted mother figure to her. Ida will be missed deeply by all her relatives and many wonderful friends. Age: 66 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a lifelong resident of Marrero, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; former and present staff and students of Ames Elementary School are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, La. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Father Otis W. Young-celebrant Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m., Recitation of the Rosary at 8:45a.m., and the Celebration of Life at 9:30a.m. at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery- Avondale, La. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, La.
