Joan-Marie Dixon Black

Joan Marie Black, a retired owner of Joans Daycare the Training Center departed this life at West Jefferson Medical Center on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 1:50a.m. She was an educator and lifelong learner. Wife of Walter Charles Black, Sr. Mother of Michelle Nicole Black Glover, Walter Charles Black, Jr., and the late Janeen Marie Black and Baby Black. Daughter of Robert Dixon and Doris Dixon. Sister of Robert Bobby Dixon, Ronnie L. Dixon, Terrance Terry Dixon, Darwin T. Dixon and Cherrie B. Dixon, also survived by 4 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 61: years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Marrero, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Morning Star Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at Morning Star Baptist Church 1000 Walkertown Way Marrero, La. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Thomas J. Brown, Jr. officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m.-9:55a.m. ONLY at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, La.
