Edward Lawrence, a man of great wisdom, strength, courage and enduring faith in God, departed this earthly life to gain his heavenly reward on Monday, July 25, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Elouise Thompson Lawrence by first marriage and Freddie Mae Douglas Lawrence by second marriage. Loving father of Arthur L. Lawrence, of Highlands Ranch, Co., Eldridge (Ethel) Lawrence and Welton Lawrence, Sr. and Patricia Ann (David) Jefferson. Stepfather of Darlene (Howard) Self, Joycelyn, Eddie, Timothy and Brenda Johnson. Grandfather Teresa Rose, Eldridge J. (Crystal) Lawrence, Dr. Leslie Lawrence, Nikelle Deal, Duane (Catina) Lawrence, Lt. Welton (Tasha) Lawrence, Jr. USN, David Lawrence, Latanja (Kiel) Divens, Kimberly (Jermon) Twitty, Jason (Keyuana) Lawrence, Shrerrie Lawrence (Gaubrel) Wessinger, Danielle and Dominique Lawrence. Son-in-law of Fred (Angie) Douglas. Brother-in-law of Robert Douglas of Angie, La., Linda Wilburn of Houston, Tx., Marguerite Spight of Richmond, Tx., Angel Douglas of Marrero, La., Britney Douglas of Atlanta, Ga. and the late Josephine Brown. Godfather of Sandra Marshall of Las Vegas, Nv., Ruth Jones of Utah, Connie George and the late Edward Evans; also survived by 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 15 step-grandchildren, 21 step great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special acknowledgement to Furnell Daniel for his devotion. Age: 89 years a native of Labadieville, La. and a resident of Harvey, La. Rev. Vaughn Kelly-officiating Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Greater Providence Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, White Dove Fellowship and all neighboring churches; employees of Hospice Compassus, Acadian Ambulance Co., Southeast Louisiana Veteran Health Care System, Air National Guard 159th Fighter Wing, US Post Office New Orleans Main Branch, Ochsner Medical Center Westbank and Baptist Campuses, and Tulane Medical Center are invited to attend the funeral service at Greater Providence Baptist Church 623 Newton St. New Orleans, La. , on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, La. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, La.
