Alonzo Walker, Sr.

Alonzo AC Walker, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was a member of the male chorus at Sunrise Baptist Church. Devoted husband of 43 years to Vertis C. Walker. Father of Vernon (Betty) Walker, Bryant Walker, Alonzo (Jacki) Walker, and Vertrice (Earl) Lemon. Son of the late Willie Mae Logan, also survived 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of brothers in law, sisters in law, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 73 years a native of Woodville, Ms. and a resident of Gretna, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Sunrise Baptist Church and neighboring churches. Employees of Jefferson Parish School System (Woodmere Elementary) and Fastway Grocery of Gretna are invited to attend the funeral service at Sunrise Baptist Church 1325 Lebouef St. Gretna, La. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00a.m. Elder James Cheatteam pastor officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
