Willie L. Chess, Sr., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at his residence. He was a laborer at Bredero Price for several years. Willies favorite pastime was sitting outside and fishing with his family. Loving husband of Cora Mae Hawkins Chess. Devoted father of Roy Lee (Gwendolyn) Chess, Willie Luster Chess, Jr., Dianne Lawrence, and Brenda (Charles) Washington. Son of Ora Moody Strong and the late Hollis Chess. Stepson of the late Roosevelt Strong. Brother of the late Neil Chess. Nephew of Lillie Chess and the late Mary Jones, Cora Bouie, Hobson and Huston Moody; also survived by 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grand children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 77 years a native of Hermanville, Ms., and a resident of Marrero, La. Relatives and friends of the family also, pastors, officers, and members of Second Zion Baptist Church, Shady Grove Baptist Church of Hermanville, Ms. and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the wake service at Second Zion Baptist Church, 6520 Second Zion Ave., Marrero, La. on Friday, September 10, 2010 at 7:00p.m. Visitation will begin at 5:00p.m. Pastor James Nelson Brown-officiating. Funeral Service on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 1001 Oquinn Lane, Hermanville, Ms. 39086, at 1:00p.m. Interment: Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery-Hermanville, Ms. Arrangements by Davis Mortuary Service 230 Monroe St. Gretna, La.
