Beatrice (Mama-Aunt-Bea) Douglas Matthews departed this life on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at her residence. Beloved wife of the late Cleveland Matthews, Jr., Mother of Willie Mae Johnson, Cess Warren Matthews, Sr., Ida Douglas, Verlia Lewis, Clarence Douglas, Cleveland Matthews, III, Larry Douglas, Roy Matthews, Shirley Holmes, Amelia Gail Noel, and Charles Douglas. Sister of ONeal , Murphy, Fred, and James Douglas. Devoted cousin of Haze Gray, Sr., also survived 42 grandchildren, 103 great grandchildren, 33 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age: 88 years a native of Gonzales, La. and a resident of Harvey, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Progressive Church, Holy Hill Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service from Progressive Church 437 Cohen St. Marrero, La. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
