Joseph Nevil, Jr. departed his earthly life on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at his residence. Devoted and loving husband of Coretha Nevil. Father of Joseph (Janice) Nevil, III, and the late Sylvia Elaine Nevil . Adopted father of Erica Hayes. Grandfather of Onekia (Gregory) Bell, Katrice Rand, Lee (Leigha) Nevil, and Patrick Nevil. Son of the late Joseph Nevil, Sr. and Sedonia Wilson Brother of Chester Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Camey Wilson, Bernell (Marie) Nevil, Sr., Larry (Beverly),Nevil, Sr., Elsie Collins, Francilla Smith, Maxine Franklin, Doris N. Sullen, Nellie Amedee, Rosa Mae Randle and the late Warren Henry, Alvin Wilson, and Johnny Nevil. Son in law of the late Olivia T. Mitchell, Ernest Taylor, Sr., and Leodis Mitchell. Brother in law of Ernest (Albert) Taylor, Jr., Alvin Taylor, Verna Mae Taylor, Althea Trotter, Jeanette Dauda. Godson of the late Mary Davis and Shepherd Swan. Aunt and devoted caretaker Vivian Ellison, also survived by 14 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joseph worked many years in the service industry at Louisiana Power & Light, Chevron and retiring from Tenneco Oil Company as a fire watchman. As a merchant marine he traveled around the world. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Age: 76 years a native and resident of New Orleans, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Asbury United Methodist Church, Second Baptist Church, Second Nazarine Baptist Church, and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at Asbury United Methodist Church 2725 Ernest St. New Orleans, La. on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00a.m. Rev. Simon Chigumira, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Young Friends of Charity-New Orleans, La.
