Robert Lawson Brooks, Sr., a former President of the American Postal Workers Union, New Orleans Local, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Devoted husband of Ivory Brooks. Loving father of Robert (Tia) Brooks, Jr., and Dorothy Brooks. Grandfather of Tiayana, Tayla and Trinity Brooks. Son of Charles W. Brooks, Sr. and the late Dorothy Brooks. Brother of Joyce (Terry) Julien, Carletta (Tyronne) Sutherland, Charles W. Brooks, Jr., and Darrin (Sharon) Brooks; also survived by 1 godson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age: 55 years a native and resident of New Orleans, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, officers and members of Second Baptist Church Sixth District and all neighboring churches; employees of the United States Postal Service and Orleans Parish Sheriffs Office and members of the American Postal Workers Union, New Orleans Local are invited to attend the funeral service at Second Baptist Church Sixth District, 4218 Laurel St., New Orleans, La., on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
