Nertha Lee (Ms. Sister) Smith Holmes passed away at her residence, on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 8:45a.m. Beloved wife of the late Charlie E. Holmes, Sr. Mother of Laverin H. (James) West, Charlie E. (JoAnn) Holmes, Jr., Louis E. (Deatta) Holmes, Alice Brown and the late Julia M. Seltzer, Jessie L. Smith, and Vincent R. (Lizette) Holmes. Daughter of the late Samuel Smith, Sr. and Mary T. Smith. Sister of Mollie S. Thomas, Ronnie (Evelyn) Smith and the late Samuel Smith, Jr., Willie Smith, Mary Carroll and Martha Gill. Godmother of Brittany Jackson, Diana Cager, Adrian Green, Nikki Lomax and Tracey Taylor; also survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank her caregiver Cherrie Simmons, Continue Care, Eagin Hospice and Quality Support. Age: 80 years a native of Waterproof, La. and a resident of Bridge City, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 414 Westwego Ave. Bridge City, La. on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 9:30a.m. Pastor George Davis, Sr., officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m until service time at the above named church.
