Joyce Lamison Haire

Joyce Lamison Haire, heard the words well done and went peacefully to her Ultimate reward on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Marrero Healthcare Center. She was a graduate of Xavier Preparatory High School. She attended Xavier University and received her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education Degrees from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She was an educator, coach and mentor for over 30 years with the East St. Louis, Illinois School District #189, until her retirement in 2002. Joyce was a lifelong member of the Delta Delta Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Joyce was the loving daughter of the late Alfred and Josephine Pierce Lamison. Devoted mother of Brian (Rose) Haire of Virginia, Gerald Haire of Springfield, IL, and Vanessa (Charles) Haire Powell of Gretna, La. Grandmother of Sonya and Soninka Haire and Timothy Thomas Haire. Sister of Emelda Boutte of Marrero, La. Devoted cousin of Estelle McTier; also survived by 3 great grandchildren, 2 godchildren, and a host of other relatives, sorrors and friends. Age: 75 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Marrero, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St Bonaventure Catholic Church, pastors, officers and members of Little Zion Baptist Church and members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc. are invited to attend the Mass of Christian burial at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 329 S. Jamie Blvd., Avondale, La. on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m., at the above named church. Interment: Restlawn Park Cemetery-Avondale, La.
