Maria Dorsey Brown

Maria Dorsey Brown passed away peacefully at Crescent City Specialty Hospital on Sunday, March 25, 2012, after a long and active life. Daughter of the late Louis and Rebecca Dorsey. Special aunt of Charles (Gayle) Landry and Sylvester (Vickie) Dorsey. Devoted friend of Pharphine Williams; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was the youngest child and proceeded in death by her husband, parents, sisters and brothers. Maria with her endearing smile and sharp sense of humor was a friend to all she met. Having had no children of her own, she was always known to give motherly advice whenever she could. God blessed her with a beautiful and memorable trademark voice that she maintained all the way to the end. She was lifelong devoted member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Gretna, La. and sang in both her church and other community choirs. Age: 95 years a native of Plaquemine, La. and a resident of Harvey, La. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Davis Mortuary Service, 230 Monroe St. Gretna, La. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named parlor.
