William Smith, Jr.

Reverend William Smith, Jr. was called home on Sunday, July 24, 2011, after a short illness at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. Beloved husband Jewel Griffin Smith by second marriage and the late Wilma Foster Smith by first marriage. Father of Willie John (Helen), Willie Don, Gloria Jean (Lawrence), Gwenether, Lisa Ann (Troy), Shelia, Rette, and Gerald. Son of the late Rev. William Smith, Sr. and Leda Smith. Brother of Lille Mae Boyd, Eddie Mae Johnson, Willie T. Vance, Pastor Ruby Bernard and the late M.C. and Troy. Brother-in-law of Pearl and Arthur, his devoted friend; also survived by 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 1 son and 2 brothers-in-law. Age: 78 years a native of Dentville, Ms. and a resident of Gretna, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of St. Paul Spiritual Church, Mount Nebo Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Paul Spiritual Church, 814 Pailet St., Harvey, La. on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
