Elizabeth Murray was born March 22, 1943 in Collins, MS to the late Clara Jones Brazley and James Murray. She was raised as the strong-willed and inquisitive child of Clara and Harold Brazley in Pascagoula, MS. Her love of her grandmothers farm in Collins carried forward to her own garden many years later. With strong support from her parents, Elizabeth ventured far from home to pursue her calling as a nurse and build a future for her 3 daughters. In 1968, she graduated from Homer G. Phillips Nursing School in St. Louis, MO as a registered nurse. This was just the beginning of Elizabeths 40+ years as a caregiver. Many lives have been impacted by the loving care of Elizabeth Martinez-Bush. She cared for both of her parents and saw them through their transitions. Elizabeth has touched lives and saved lives. The Lord positioned her to save her neighbors infant who had stopped breathing and turned blue. As a school nurse for Orleans Parish, Elizabeth used her gift to revive a colleague in cardiac arrest. Elizabeth had only recently retired from nursing. Her children and grandchildren all thrived under her loving care as did her Terrytown garden! She was the hub and the heart of her family. She most enjoyed her home which she shared with her husband, John Bush and planning holiday meals and activities with her family. Elizabeth is survived by husband, John Bush. She is also survived by daughters: Yvette Edwards-Wesley, Carla Edwards and Clara Edwards; Two granddaughters: Aaron Edwards and Lonie Gordon and great granddaughter Camille Ford.
