Laverne Porter

Laverne Porter, an administrative assistant with Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 11, 2012. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Loving mother of Samantha Porter-Robinson. Daughter of the late Myrtle and Johney Porter, Jr. Granddaughter of the late Olivia Stevens, Johney Porter Sr. and Ida Wells. Sister of Tommy Porter, Sr., Patricia Porter-Stanford, Dianne Porter (Rufus Robinson), Gwendolyn Porter and the late Elliott Porter. Mother-in-law of Nehemiah Robinson; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Age: 57 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Lake Charles, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Stronger Hope Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees of Louisiana Rehabilitation Services are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Stronger Hope Baptist Church, 2401 South Galvez St., New Orleans, La. on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:00a.m. Rev. Joel C. Profit, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery- New Orleans, La.
