James "Papoon" Wilbert Mitchell, a retiree from Marrero Land Improvement Company, departed this life at home on Friday, February 1, 2012 at 12:41 a.m. He was 85 years old and a resident of Marrero, LA. Husband of Millie Knightshead Mitchell. Father of the late Herbert James Mitchell. Son of the late O'Neil and Wilhelmina Cuillier Mitchell and son-in-law of the late Alex and Effie Knightshead. Brother of Lewis, Ernest (Mary), and Roland Mitchell and Catherina Basils. Brother-in-law of Rev. Doris Mitchell. Grandfather of Bernard (Darnell), Herbert James (Bella) and Damiaun (Laquita) Mitchell.
