Derrick Young, Sr. departed this life on Monday, February 4, 2013 at West Jefferson Medical Center. Son of Beatrice M. Young and the late Prime Young. Husband of Bernadine H. Young. Father of Derrick Collins, Lauryn and LaShone Young and the late Derrick Young, Jr. Brother of Marlon Charles, Roderick Young and Nicole Young. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, 4 brothers-in-law, 4 sisters-in-law, 1 godchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 53 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and lifelong resident of Algiers, LA. Relatives and friends of the family; also pastors, officers and members of Algiers United Methodist Church, New Home Family Worship Center - Westbank, Mount Zion, First Free Mission B.C., Algiers Love Outreach Christian Church and neighboring churches; employees of Audubon Nature Institute, Ochsner Foundation - Jefferson, Iscola Inc., Boomtown Casino and Davita Dialysis Center are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration at Algiers United Methodist Church, 637 Opelousas Ave., Algiers, LA on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Becky Connor, officiating.
