Edwina Juanita Batiste Butler Woods entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Canon Hospice. Wife by first marriage of the late Olive Butler and by second marriage Robert Woods. Mother of Barry Batiste (Anita), David Butler and Kimberly Butler Griffin. Daughter of the late Edward Batiste and Leona Gray Batiste. Sister of Leon Batiste (Jennifer) of Rialto, CA, Rev. John Batiste (Lucille) and George Gray both of Baton Rouge, LA, Hazel Gaines (Larry), Lucy Smith, and Jannie Batiste all of White Castle, LA and Annette Robinson (Patrick Sr.) of New Orleans, LA. Sister-in-law of Wayne Davis, Sr. and Alberta Woods Gray. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 73 years. A native of White Castle, LA and resident of New Orleans, LA. She was a graduate of Dillard University and a retired LPN for Touro Infirmary. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Beaulah Land Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Beaulah Land Baptist Church, 2436 St. Maurice Ave., New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation 9:00 a.m. at the Church.
