Rev. Walter C. Jackson, of New Orleans, LA, Pastor of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Algiers, LA, went home to be with the Lord at age 68 on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. He was born in New Orleans, LA on May 27, 1944 to the union of Julia Joseph Jackson and Walter C. Jackson, Sr. Pastor Jackson graduated from Lincoln High School, attended Grambling State University, and received his Bachelor of Theology from Union Baptist Theological Seminary in 1989. Pastor Jackson was married to Wilma Faye Robinson on August 20, 1966. Pastor Jackson was baptized in 1965 at the St. Paul B.C. under the pastorage of the late Rev. Eugene Robinson. Pastor Jackson joined the Mt. Sinai B.C. in 1974 under the leadership of the late Rev. L.H. Keiffer. While under the leadership of Pastor Keiffer, Rev. Jackson was appointed Bible School teacher, Sunday school teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and then Deacon. In 1987, he was called to he ministry and in 1988 placed under study under the tutelage of the late Rev. Daniel Powell. He was ordained in 1988 and installed Pastor of Mt. Sinai in 1989. As pastor, he baptized many souls, christened countless babies, married numerous couples and buried several members. Pastor Jackson is survived: his wife, Wilma Faye Robinson Jackson; by his mother, Julia Roy; his stepfather, Thomas Roy, Sr.; and one sister, Judy J. Ketchens. He leaves to mourn his passing three children: Michelle Villafana (Mark), New York, Tiffany Thorn (Aurelius), and Ashley Jackson of Houston; six grandchildren: Brea, Malia, Alonia, Alaysia, Malik and Makayla; one godson, Carey Thomas; one goddaughter, Brielle Mathews; one stepsister, Patricia Roy Watson; one stepbrother, Thomas Roy, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pastor Jackson was a devoted Pastor, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and cousin. He was a great fisherman who loved to walk up and down the fishing banks, mainly to commune with God. Pastor Jackson never met a person he did not like. He showed agape love to all who crossed his path. He loved his church, but he always let them know that Heaven was his final home and was ready whenever God sent his angels for him. Therefore, on that sad day for us, March 27, Pastor Jackson had his ticket in his hand and jumped on board because he was on his way Home!
