Deacon Emile "PawPaw" Simon, a retired employee with 30 years of service from the Parish of Jefferson, was called from labor to rest on Thursday, May 30, 2013. Husband of the late Bertha Netter Simon. Father of Luella Emery, Rose Anderson, Raymond Netter and the late Gloria Ponds. Grandfather of Alice Emery, Shelia Emery, Linda Perrilloux, Lisa Anderson, Bryan Anderson, Kathy Dixon, Danielle Ponds, and the late Karen Netter. Son of the late Emma and Ernest Simon, Sr. Brother of Ernest Simon, Jr., Stella Penn and the late Gertrude Simpson. Brother-in-law of Isaac Netter, Mary Simon, Adline Netter and Rethra Netter. Also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 82 years. A native of Amite, LA and a resident of Jefferson Parish for many years. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Shiloh Baptist Church of Gretna and Second Highway Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the life being celebrated at Second Highway Baptist Church, 1533 Haydel Drive, Marrero, LA on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Sherman R. Smith, Sr., Host Pastor/Rev. Ernest London, officiating. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Belle Grove Cemetery, Kenner, LA.
