Pastor Elton Walker, Sr. entered into eternal rest at home on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. He was a Pastor of Vineyard Ministries and affiliated New Salem Church of Christ Holiness, Christ Temple - Covington, and Without Walls Ministry and a welder. Elton was a graduate of West Jefferson High School and attended Arkansas Pine Bluff on a baseball scholarship. He was employed by Avondale Shipyard, Gretna Machinery and McDermitt. Beloved husband of Davereen Gilmore Walker. Father of Demetres Ruffin, Elton Jr., Tyler and Kaylynn Walker. Son of Roy Walker, Sr. and Alice Smith Walker. Brother of Roy Jr., Larry, Norris, Brian, Wade, Jeff and Eric Walker, Roxanne Cyprian, Jennifer Dubois, Bernadette Duplessis and the late Ray Walker. Son-in-law of the late Ida Mae and Jack Gilmore, Sr. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 56 years. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA.
