Lynn Leon "Gas" Charles, a retired Carman of Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads, departed this life on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at his residence. Devoted husband of Barbara Ford Charles. Father of Shauna Charles, Barbara L. (Tyrone) Williams, Angela Charles, Lynn Charles, Jr., Byron (Paula) Charles, Sr., Shalita Higgins, and Dana Hall. Son of the late Howard Charles and Dorothy Washington Charles. Brother of Howard R (Abeba) Charles and Vada Tate. Nephew of Leah McDonald. Father in law of Carol Charles and Kevin Higgins. Brother in law of Donald King, also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to West Jefferson Medical Center and Serenity Hospice. Age: 68 years a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Gretna, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Regular B.C., New Hope B. C., Mt. Zion B.C. of Gretna and all neighboring churches. Members of L.B. Landry Class of 1963; employees of Southern Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads, Bridge City Center for Youth, L. W. Higgins H.S., William Hart Elementary School, Catherine Strehle Elementary, Ozanam Inn, Daiquiri Place, and Velia Transportation (Jefferson) are invited to attend the funeral service at Regular Baptist Church 901 5th St. Gretna, La. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:00a.m. Rev. T. A. Hodges officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
