Wilbert Fisher, Jr., Executive Agent and President of Will Fisher Allstae Insurance Agency, President and Owner of ED&K, LLC, departed this life at his residence after a 13 month battle with lung cancer, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the age of 70. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Marrero, LA. Beloved husband of Lucy Weber Fisher. Loving father of Dondra Fisher and Kadra Fisher Taylor. Grandfather of London Taylor. Son of Lille Mae Fisher and the late Wilbert Fisher, Sr. Brother of Richard Fisher and the late Donald Fisher, James Fisher., Pamela Kitchens and Paula Lewis; also survived by 7 sisters-in-law, 6 brothers-in-law, a devoted friend Lance Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Fisher graduated from George Washington Carver High School, New Orleans, LA where he received an Art Scholarship from the 7-Up Company. He earned a B.S. degree from Southern University in 1966, and continued his graduate studies at Tulane University. Wilbert taught for 9 years in the Orleans Parish School System and then started a career with Allstate Insurance Agency in 1974. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the Boys & Girls Club of America, APU Civic Organization, Allstate Southern Regional Advisory Board, Franklin Avenue Baptist Church Male Chorus, and Founder and President of The Forest Non-Profit Organization. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, St. John Institutional Baptist Church, Regular Baptist Church and all neighboring churches; employees and clients of Will Fisher Allstate Insurance Agency and Eloquent Flowers and Accessories are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 2515 Franklin Avenue on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Viewing from 8:00a.m.-10:00a.m. ONLY at the above named church. Viewing on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Alario Center, 2000 Segnette Blvd., Westwego, LA from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., followed by a Reflection of Life from 8:00pm-9:00pm.
