Sterling Jones, Sr.

Sterling Jones, Sr. passed away on Friday November 29, 2013 at West Jefferson General Hospital at the age of 84, surrounded by loved ones. He Retired from John Mandeville after 30 years of service. He was a native of Houma, LA, a resident of Marrero, LA. Proceeded in death by his Mother Francis Ross Butler, and Father Mack Jones, Sr. 6 Brothers, Albert Butler, James Lewis, Mack Jones, Joseph Jones, Frank Jones, Earl Jones, and one Sister, Victoria Diggs, all native of Houma, LA. Most resided in Marrero. Sterling was married for many years to the late Violet Hensley-Jones, 8 children was added to that union. Rev. Sterling Jones, Jr. (Gloria), Gilda Smith (the late Rev. Sam Smith, Jr.), Merlin Jones, all of Marrero. Pastor Shelia Jones-Williams (Bishop Nelson Williams) of Baton Rouge. Minister Cornell Jones (Lois), Nanette Shelly (Darryl Shelly) of Dallas Texas, Jennifer Jones-Richardson of Los Angeles, Calif. And Michelle Jones of Denver Colorado. 46 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Also proceeded in death, wife of 33 years, Willie Mae Jones and 5 step children (the late Dwight Nixon) Gregory Nixon, Debra Stran, Kevin Nixon, Dionne Nixon, Velvet Davis, and Nathaniel Harrison of Luling, La. Macedonia Baptist Church, St. Mary Baptist Church and all Neighboring Churches, including relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at Davis Mortuary, 6820 West Bank Expressway, in Marrero LA, on Monday December 9, 2013 at 10:00 am. Visitation from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Albert Michael officiating.
