Major Gilmore, Sr., departed this life at his residence on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Husband of the late Ruby Louise Brown Gilmore. Father of Larry D. Gilmore, Debra A. Lindsey, Chyawanda Gilmore Cavalier, Vannessa Gilmore Scott, Jeannette Gilmore Payne, and Major Gilmore, Jr. Son of the late Mangold, Sr. and Olivia Gilmore. Grandson of the late Dock and Emiley Allen. Brother of Sadie Gilmore Luke, Lee Will Gilmore and the late Ina L. Gilmore Mason, Mattie Gilmore, Fannie L. Gilmore Jamison, Olivia Gilmore Brown, Ernest Gilmore, Jack Demsey Gilmore, John C. (Bully) Gilmore, Josh Gilmore, Mangold (Buddy) Gilmore, and Shelby Simmons Gilmore, also survived by 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Age: 79 year a native Carpenter, Ms. and a resident of Marrero, La. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, Little Zion Baptist Church # 3 and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at Rock of Ages Baptist Church 6533 Acre Rd. Marrero, La. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00a.m. Rev. Gilbert Barnes, officiating Visitation will begin at 9:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
