Helen Benn Price

Helen Benn Price went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the age of 97. She was a lifelong and oldest resident of Lower Coast Algiers Cutoff Community. Mama Helen as she is affectionately known was the oldest member of Second Baptist Church of Algiers, LA Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Price, Sr. Devoted mother of Lawrence Price, Jr., Altar Butler, Howard Price, Sr., Bernadine Ross, Joyce Price, Lorraine Smith, Leona Roy and the late Milton Price and Portland Stampley. Stepmother of Catherine Phoenix. Daughter of the late Isaac, Sr. and Stella McDonald Benn. Sister of Isaac Benn, Jr. and the late Elizabeth Villere, Cora B. Rose, Malinda B. (Eugene) Ross, Howard , Sr. (Clementine), Hersey, Clarence (Geneva), Eldred (Mildred), Charlie, Sr. (Marlene) and Kermit (Barbara) Benn. Mother in law of Irvin Butler, Ozell Price, Clinton Smith, Gene Roy, Albert Stampley and the late Thelma Price, Warren Ross, Sr., and Edna Mae Price Sister-in-law of Percy Rose, Sr. and the late Beulah, Louise, Lottie, Edna, and Charlie DeBartolow, Sr., Wilks, Henry, Sr., Thorton, Lois and Alex Price, Sr.; also survived by 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of Second Baptist Church, Second Nazarine Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church and all neighboring churches; members of Nazarine Benevolent Society and neighbors and friends of The Cutoff and Algiers communities are invited to attend the Funeral Service at Second Baptist Church, 2836 Sullen Place, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Taza Green, Sr. officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
