Fery Varist, Sr.

Fery Varist, Sr., age 92, a retired employee of Hunt Wesson Oil, entered into eternal peace on Monday, January 6, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Laplace, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA for the past 50 years. Beloved husband of 25 years to Elaine J. Varist by second marriage and the late Rachel Varist by first marriage. Loving father of Norma Lockley, Carolyn Lucas, Michael Gilmore, Richard Varist and the late Cheryl Varist and Fery Varist , Jr. Stepfather of Kimberly and Kenneth Jackson and Kaylon White. Son of the late Pete Varist and Adline Morris Varist. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, 4 sister and 3 great grandchildren. Also survived by 4 sisters, 2 brothers, 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and member of New Zion Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Funeral Service at New Zion Baptist Church, 1131 Garden Rd. Marrero, LA on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Austin Dennis, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:30a.m. until service time at the above named church.
