Lawrence Willis, Jr., a retired mechanic with the U.S. Post Office, entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 24, 2014 at West Jefferson Medical Center at the age of 80. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Marrero, LA. Lawrence was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Class of 1953 and continued his studies at Delgado Community College earning an Associate's Degree in Business Administration. He served his country as a member of the United State Air Force for 4 years, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Beloved husband of Maria F. Joseph Willis. Loving father of Lawrence Willis, III, Christopher Willis, Iona Willis Dupre, Patricia Willis Dennis, Martha R. Willis, Mary-Ann Willis Battle, Cynthia Willis Harris, Alton J. Willis, Tennille Willis Lange and Kenneth M. Willis. Son of the late Alberta Marth Ruth Helton Washington and Lawrence Willis. Stepson of the late Thaddeus Washington. Stepbrother of the late David Washington. Godfather of Joyce Jones and Jacqueline Jones. Brother-in-law of the late Clarence "Skippy" Joseph; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
