Shirley Marie "Maw Maw" Peters took God's hand on angels crossing on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 2:05p.m. at West Jefferson Medical Center. Wife of the late Herman Peters, Jr. Mother of Herman (Sandra) Peters, Angela (Donald) Meyers, Patrice (Lincoln) Norwood, Jill Peters, and Clayton (Tyra) Peters. Daughter of the late Octave and Marguerite Gougisha. Sister of George (Mable) Gougisha, Pearl Adams (Don) Singleton and the late Barbara Patin, Jackie Simmons, Junius, Leroy, Merlin and Lloyd Gougisha, also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters in law and a host of other relatives and friends. Age: 76 years a native and resident of Gretna, La. Relatives and friends of the family also priest and parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church 455 Ames Blvd. Marrero, La. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
