Larry Roeling Simpson, Sr., age 76, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 5, 2014 at Canon Hospice. He was a native of Davante, LA and a resident of Avondale, LA. Larry was a retired police officer with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office Community Relations Divisions. Beloved husband of Josie M. Simpson and the late Willie Mae Brooks-Simpson by first marriage. Loving father of Larry (Sharen) Simpson, Jr., Karen B. (Wilbert) Collins, Mark (Bernadette) Simpson, Gay Simpson, Estelle Simpson, Fujikol Simpson and the late Kiyoshi Simpson. Son of the late Estelle Cornin Simpson Duplessis and Joseph Duplessis. Brother of John, George and Austin Simpson and the late Henry Simpson, Jr., Leona Griffin, Joseph Simpson, Dorothy Britton, Bertholomew Simpson, Peter Simpson and Charles Duplessis. Devoted friend of Franchelle Simpson; also survived by 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; employees of JPSO; members of Knights of Columbus and W.K B. Volunteer Fire Department are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 329 South Jamie Blvd., Avondale, LA on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 1:00p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00p.m. until service time at the above named church.
