Robert Edward Sims, Sr

Robert Edward "The Saints Man" Sims, Sr. departed this life at 12:45a.m., on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the age of 68. He was a native of Dequincy, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Robert retired from Union Pacific Railroad after 32 years of service. A true "DIE-HARD" Saints fan, Robert was elated to witness first hand as the Saints won Super Bowl XLIV. This entrepreneurial soul who began the Thumbs Up Company, made football player figures that adorn the walls of many businesses across Louisiana. Loving husband of Sherry C. Sims. Devoted father of Robert E. Sims, Jr. Grandfather of Juwan D. Sims and Robert E. Sims, III. Brother of Rose (Leroy) Jackson, Doris (Clyde) Hall, Nedra Carter and Troy (Joe) Sims; also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA and Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX for their kindness and excellent care, especially the Transplant Units.
