Herman Willis Gibson Jr.

Rev. Herman (Junior Boy) Willis Gibson, the pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church for twenty- nine years, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at the age of 74. Rev. Gibson earned a Masters of Theology Degree in May of 1999 from Union Baptist Seminary. He was a native of Ironton, La. and a resident of Algiers, La. Beloved and devoted husband of fifty- one years to Irma Taylor Gibson. Son of the late Herman W. Gibson, Sr. and Alice Jason Gibson. Devoted brother of Ernest (Brenda), Alfred (Marva Lee), and Anthony (Diane) Gibson. Brother in law of Gloria T. Peterson, Laurette T. Reece, Veronica T. Conerly, Velma Oubre, Selica and Alicidia Taylor, Robert, Welton, and Kenneth Taylor, John Harrison, Rodney Reece, and James Conerly, also survived by 8 godchildren, 13 nephews, 7 nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family also pastors, officers, and members of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Second Baptist, Nazarine Baptist Church, Progressive Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the visitation at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church 2120 N. Roman St. New Orleans, La. on Friday, July 4, 2014 from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. Funeral services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church 2725 Ernest St. Algiers, La. on Saturday July 5, 2014 at 10:00a.m.and viewing will begin at 8:00a.m. Rev.
