Alexander Lewis

Alexander Lewis, affectionately known as "Xa" "Unc" and "Paw Paw", entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at West Jefferson Medical Center at the age of 74. He was a native of Wallace, LA and a resident of Westwego, LA. Alexander was employed with Carrollton Lumber Company and Boh Brother Construction Company for 37 years. After retirement from the construction industry he became employed with St. Anthony School as a Foster Grandparent for numerous years. Beloved husband of 37 years to Priscilla Alvis Lewis. Loving father of Ariel Lewis, Kesha Sylvan and Kiary Mellon. Son of the late Viola Herbert Lewis and Terance Lewis, Sr. Brother of Viola Singletary, Corita Taylor, Terance Lewis, Jr., Ernest Lewis, and the late Helen Grows, Flossie Wise, Sedonia Givens, Lucille Howard, Dorothy, Steve, Clarence, and Renee Lewis; also survived by 5 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Progressive Church and neighboring churches; former and present co-workers; faculty, staff and students of St. Anthony School are invited to attend the Homegoing Service at Progressive church, 437 Cohen St. Marrero, LA on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Sterling Mealancon, officiating Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church.
